SOUNDS OF THE STREET

Sunny Bastards Records

Following on from last year’s ‘Through Our Veins’, a split E.P with Spider Crew Italian street core band No Restraints have now teamed up with Day Drinker for another excellent slab of wax in ‘Same Streets. Both bands give us 2 tracks each on this fine E.P that is available through German label Sunny Bastards Records and highlights that the subculture that we love is in good shape and these bands are delivering cracking anthems with every release.

No Restraints are first up with the outstanding new track ‘Our Warzone’, as with the two tracks on ‘Through Our Veins’ the band bring a mix of Oi! and hardcore which results in an angry skinhead sound that I absolutely love. For their second track the band have decided to take on The Bruisers ‘Borrowed Time’ which they have done a great job but if I were being picky, I would have like to have another original, but this is still a great song, nonetheless.

Day Drinker are a half Dutch and half Belgian working-class punk band that mix melodic street punk like Cock Sparrer and Argy Bargy with 90’s punk rock like Bad Religion and The Bouncing Souls with fantastic results. Last year the band released a 5-track demo on the Bandcamp page in which ‘Dying Breed’ first appeared, a great melodic sing-along anthem. Their second song ‘Disintegrating Nation’ is a cracking, well-written track with lyrics that are brilliantly delivered by Ronny, a fine end to a brilliant E.P.

‘Same Streets’ deserves a place in your collection which includes brilliant tracks from 2 bands that have in bright future in the scene. So grab a beer, play loud and enjoy!
